oil well explosion

For some reason the theme song to the Beverly Hillbillies just popped into my head. :p

Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named John...
Poor sawdust-maker just trying to get along.
Then one day he was sittin' on the porch,
And BOOM! went the oil rig; burned up like a torch.

Flames that is......forty feet high....bright orange and red in the sky....

Thanks guys I needed that! Now if you could only work brown shorts in somehow.
Well the first thing you know, ol' John's a millionaire...
Kinfolk said "John, change your underwear".
"Just get yourself some boxers or a pair of tighty-whites"
"'Cause what you're wearing now, just simply ain't right."

Don't thank me...it's a gift. :D

Good one Vaughn.

Here's a few more pics. They have started cutting and removing the "hot" metal so when they put the fire out it won't blow again. They should be in sequence. Look at the fire tornado on the right! It's in a catch pond for the runoff.

Those pics are incredible, John. The fire tornado is amazing. Is the fire roaring as loudly as I imagine it is?

Bill, if you think my meter is bad, you should see me dance. :p

Vaughn,

It sounds like a jet engine 24/7.

The EPA has been on sight from day one. They are really great people. Any question that has been asked that they can answer they have. If they can't they have it the next day.

They've set up air quality monitors all around the area. Everday I’ve checked in to see how the quality has been. It's been fine everyday.

I got concerned today when I was outside and started filling something hitting me and it began to sound like it was sleeting. Since it was about 55 today I knew it wasn’t sleet. I looked on the hood of my truck and could see tiny crystals all over the hood. I headed over to were the EPA was at and asked if I’d been exposed to some toxic fallout. The guy grinned and said it was sand. I said sand? Now I’m between 200 and 250 yards from the well. He said they used something like a sandblaster to cut through the casing and drill shaft. The well had blown the sand all the way to my place! He made me feel better.

Here's a picture of the cutting.
