HF #16, Spalted White Birch

Spalted white birch, 7 ½” diameter X 5 ¼” high X less than ¼” thick. Lots of different colors in this one – plus a few cracks, curl, bark and a little bit of wood! Sanded to 400 grit, multiple coats of thinned Minwax gloss poly.

Hope you don’t mind all the photos but the HF looks different depending upon viewing angle.

Wow Steve, this batch of spalted birch sure has provided for some nice pieces. This one is no exception. Great job. :thumb:
 
That's a lovely turning Steve. You seem to have caught the spalting at just the right time so that it shows clearly without being overpowering.

Looks like that piece of wood had quite some character without the addition of the spalting Steve, I doubt the spalting made it any easier to get those flowing curves to stay 'in the round' nice look piece. :thumb:

I saw many of this hollow forms from you, obviously your favorite hollow form I think. Very well done.
