Someone posted about them getting those Alum OXide grinding wheels for $36 each & now I can't find the post does anybody remember this post?

Chuck

I think you mean the >> Norton 3X << grinding wheels?

I have the #80 and the #46, both 8" wheels, they were not $36, but $49 (the 6" wheels are $39) and they seem to work well.

Cheers!

Chuck,

Probably you were reading my post:

http://www.hartvilletool.com/product/10846

With our 20% off Club discount (if you mention "Woodnet", you will get 15% discount), it was reduced to $35.99

I have ordered the 60 and 120 2 or 3 years ago; they were too soft for HSS. They grooved real bad; I returned both.

If you like the results from your Thompson tools, I think he also uses the Norton 3X 46 and 80 "K" wheels. He got them from:
http://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/Norton-3X-Blue-Grinding-Wheel-K-Grade-P101C25.aspx

I have not used the K wheel, so I have nothing to compare to. I don't exactly know whether I got from Hartville is K wheel.

What I compared to were the OEM coarse wheel from the WC grinder and the 3X coarse wheel that I got several years ago.

Before you order, you can call them and see whether they know the hardness of the 3X wheels they carry.

Hartville is local to me. There is no return shipping if they are not what I want. BTW, currently they have free shipping for >$75 order. (Sorry Stu, you are not included)
