when I needed a couple pieces of Maple. So from my stash I pulled a 4X4 and cut it on the RAS. I had seen the worm holes but didn't know what would be inside...

I think these need some special lathe treatment rather than car body, Off to go find some more Maple.

How would you mount it? End grain as a box or on the side? Which side? Brad wanted to send you a piece of KY wood so maybe I'll send you a chunk of this wood. PM me with an address & I'll send forth a piece for turning.

I was thinking end grain...perhaps something like a pepper mill? It's 4" x 4", which is bigger than it'd need to be. And if there are bug holes, it'd be hard to keep the pepper in it. :p Perhaps a thin vase? Turned into a 4" x 4" x 4" block, it could be turned sideways for a neat little box, bowl or hollow form.

If you'd like me to give a piece a whirl, I'd be honored. PM is on its way. ;)
