Maple Bowl with some Birdseye

Another simple form but with a line of birdseye that runs completely through the bowl. This is one of those pieces that changes with the light – so I included multiple shots with different lighting angles.

Maple bowl, 10 ¼” diameter x 4 5/8” high x ½” thick, sanded to 400 grit, multiple coats of Minwax Gloss Wipe-On Poly.

Nice overall shape.

Personal preference here....but for me, I don't like the sharp edges on the inside and outside lip, I think that they damper the flow of the piece, and in my experience, they end up getting dinged and dented fairly quickly........ :dunno:

But, that is not taking away from the fine work you are doing Steve! :thumb:
 
And to play devil's advocate...I like the crisp lines on the rim. :D I agree with Stu on the dingability of the edges, but I think it adds a more contemporary look.

Different floats for different boats, huh? :p
