I had this ugly walnut hunk laying around from last year's free tree's, about 11" x 16", couple coats of Danish oil..............





...and the bottom.

That looks cool, Barry. Seems to be a lot of that going around. (I'll have pics posted of my version before too long.) Between Mark Cothren and Jeff Bower, they may have started a mini revolution for thick bowls.

That chunk of scrap sure has some nice figure in it.

Oh, I'm sure I was the first and only person to ever turn a bowl in a rough chunk of wood...

Another really nice piece of work. I think I may have to try something like that. I like the fact that you guys are thinking outside the bowl.

point of order,
if you really can't think of anything else to do with the rest of that 'ugly' walnut, I have plenty of room in my shop for it.. I might have to cut it up a bit more for it to fit on my midi though.

bet that was a lot of fun in propeller mode. I can't tell, is there a finish on there at all, or are you leaving it natural?
