I am looking to buy a a small gravity spray gun to paint small thin wood frames. I want small spray patten 3 to 4 inch at low air volume. Little over spray. Do any of you have any experience and advice on a gun and type of paint that has worked for you. I just starting this process and any advice would be appreciated. It would probably help save me time any money trying to figure out the best method by experimenting on my own. I am looking for a smooth finish for picture frames and small furniture projects. I am having trouble on trying to decide to use oil base, water or lacquer. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

I use a little Harbor Freight 5.5oz HVLP touch-up gun for spraying shellac and clear lacquer. Works pretty well. Costs around thirty bucks.

Ken, I've not really checked for specific widths, but if you're holding the gun close to the item being sprayed, 1" or narrower should be pretty easy as long as things are adjusted right for a light spray.
