With Caragana.
Sanded to 400x, buffed with super fine steel wool, burnished with Caragana wood shavings, saturated with BLO, let dry over night, and burnished on 6 coats of BLO letting it dry between coats.
The burnishing generates lots of heat to dry the BLO between coats.
Finish sure has that warm, satin feel of wood.
No adhesive used for assembly.
Sorry guys I should have mentioned that I drilled the top section with a Letter I (.272") drill bit for a nice tight fit for the 7mm (.275") tube.

Every time you post a new pen I repeat myself.
You have a way of making the ordinary look extraordinary. :thumb:
That style looks interesting. One piece shows off the wood and should be a little faster to make.
BTW, Cynthia, any wood can be a "woodworking wood" in the hands of someone like Les.

Very nice, Les. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how it extends the writing tip. Do you hold the nib and turn the barrel?
