Glad to see you got it figured out, Jim. 
Whatever company designed those lathes, it's like they decided to just start the design from scratch. There's not a lot inside the head that's similar to other lathes.
Like I said earlier, I turned quite a few nice things on mine. The best part (or maybe the worst part, depending on point of view) was that it gave me a taste of what something bigger than a mini lathe could do...and I wanted more.
