Craftsman Table saw 113.298720

A few pics of it completed. I forgot to get a pic of the top before I started removing the rust. Started with a red scotch Brite, then 320grit with wd40 and worked up to 600 grit. You can see a few spots that are pitted and would require surface machining to remove. I think it cleaned up quite nice and didn't see any need to polish past 600 grit. Looks and feels smooth to me. A coat of wax once it's warm enough is all it needs.

For dust collection, I simply wanted to direct as much as possible down into a dust chute. I closed up the cradle as much as possible but the top is open for tilting the blade. I may try cover the back but I'm not trying to get anywhere closer to perfect dust. No one else has that I know of but I thought I'd try a different approach. I'll see how it goes when I connect a vac.

Installed pals. As you can see in one of the pics, had to relieve a bit on the splitter bracket and use a regular bolt instead of a stud to tilt it to 45°.

Put a wire screen over the dust, obviously to catch the arbor nut if I drop it. Already happened a couple times.

Installed a Delta t3 rip fence. Surprised it needed some shimming to get straight. Had to add .007 at the center and added .002 about midway between the center and outside bolts. Got the left side within .002 straight. Need to get some different thickness shim for the other side. I was able to get it's set to have the back end about .002 offset.

The blade is within .002 square and have less than.005 runout at 90°, 45° was .003 away from the fence. Something tells me that'll be great accuracy for a contractor saw.

I upgraded the stock motor to a 1 1/2 hp motor from Vevor. Added a link belt and machine pulleys. Cut really nice on crosscut and rips. I noticed a bit of blade marks on rips but I think that's more new needing to get the hang of pushing the wood through. First time using a tablesaw since I was in 9th grade, 30+ years ago.

Still planning to get the shark guard splitter, will feel more comfortable with the splitter closer to the blade. The stock splitter is pretty far when cutting most common thickness.

Just realized I started this thread 2 1/2 years ago. Jointers is next. Hoping to have it running by summer.
