And the runner ups...

I'll have to take the camera to work tomorrow and get out over lunch for something new.

Great photo Ned. O.T. The style of fences used across the country always intrigues me and makes me wonder about the reasoning for their design.

I'll have to do more research on that particular one, there was a sign along the parkway stating that these and other similar stone fences were built and maintained by the labor from the area plantations before the civil war.

I am curious why they built a bump out. Seems like a lot of extra work with little to show for it (little extra room). Do you think it was a way of using shorter logs?

Guys the bump out is so the logs could pass one another. I built log homes and that is the best way to pass logs by each other. Much more air tight than trying to butt end logs to each other. Yes it's more work but if your logs are being handled by hand they must be cut short enough to "man handle" into place and this is one of the best ways to do a log wall. This may have been attached to a inner wall partition as well making this a two room cabin. The picture looks great by the way.

All are great photos, but not what I thought this was going to be about when I opened this thread. I thought you were promoting taking a picture of the same place, one shot a day at approximately the same time for a year.

I was sitting just now eating a whole wheat bagel with the insides pulled out(not really the most enjoyable way, but fat people have to watch what they eat), having my third cup of todays coffee, and I spotted this squirrel enjoying his afternoon bagel. Bet he didnt pull out the inside, and it certainly isnt whole wheat.
sorry bout the picture quality, its only a 69 dollar camera

It sure has been fun just looking at pictures to look at pictures.

I'm an old camera nut so I enjoy looking at pictures.

Thanks for showing.

I purchased a Canon Rebel T3 last Friday. It is replacing a Canon 605. The two cameras look similar and they both take pics, but that is about all they have in common.

Man, going from film to digital is a kick in the head. Even though I have not taken photos (except snapshots for FWW) for many years I thought that some of my photographic instincts would carry over---like riding a bicycle. Well they did not. I cannot just reach up and change an f-stop or shutter speed like "the good ole days," there is all of this electronic magic to worry about. The new lenses are outstanding.

Enjoy,

JimB

Jim, I got a canon T2i last year, and it's a wonder.

I'm sure in no time you'll figure out how to change the modes and set your f-stops and shutter speeds like you used to...

The one thing I've learned from this years challenge is that I don't have to save every pic I take...

If you don't have any software for editing/managing your pics, I'd say give Adobe Lightroom a shot. Takes a little getting used to, but it does makes it easy to import manage and do some minor editing of pictures. It does 99.9% of what I need...

And get big memory cards and shoot raw mode...
