This hollow form is out of a small piece of walnut root that Larry Merlau sent me a while back.
Thanks, Larry!
By the time I whittled things down, it ended up at 3 1/2" wide by 2 1/2" tall. The walls are about 1/8" thick except right inside the rim, where it's about 1/16" thicker. The opening is just shy of 1" wide...about all I can do with my 3/4" boring bars. Finished with Antique Oil and buffed. It's nice tight-grained wood, so the finish came out real smooth.
The curve's not perfect, but of course I didn't see it until I was cropping the pics.
