Wooden mallet

I thought this was going to be very straight forward but I learned a few things along the way. Alignment issues mainly. I measured several times and was sure but something just didn't look quite right and once glued up...sure enough. Oh well...for a beater stick it will work just fine. Made from scraps of hardwood flooring (pecan wood I think) and Purpleheart.

Looks like it will do the job.

You didn't say what you were going to beat with it but if you are going to beat wood joints into submission I recommend that you glue some leather on the mallet head faces with contact cement.

Looks pretty good from here! Doing the split color pieces like that is a lot of fun (if a tad challenging on getting perfect alignment as you noted - yours looks reeeaaallly close so I'd claim it as a win!)
