Some more Steve good downloads and more and more

Is it a 240 volt service (2 hot, one neutral + gnd)? Maybe balancing out what 120 volt things are connected to each side will help. I check this frequently when hooking stuff up in my own shop, and have made huge differences for friends when I checked their shop panels. All too often too much is...

Allen, have you considered an air conditioner for your shop? I added a 2 ton heat pump to my shop so it can be 68-74 F out there whenever I want to work in it. One of the best upgrades that I ever made to the shop. I know that you are considering moving, but the "right one" could move with you...

    Droopy lids anyone?

Scotch Tape could be a good temporary fix. It might be worth trying to see first hand if there are any benefits to eyes that are more open, although you won't be able to keep the tape on for any long duration . You will need to blink to rewet your eyes. Charley

    It's always something.

I once had the makings of a pretty complete metal/welding shop in addition to my woodshop, but I now have a pacemaker and "Batteries Are Included" in me now, so working near high energy electric arcs have been forbidden by my heart doctors. I can't even open the hood on my car if it's running...

    It's always something.

If you can remove both (or three) pieces you should be able to copy it, or make a template out of wood or plastic. Without additional photos, I'm uncertain what I'm looking at, but it looks like a steel part and welding might be possible. Maybe a few more pictures would help, but I think I need...

    Droopy lids anyone?

I had to get that surgery done on my St Bernard. His eyelids were rolling in when he shut his eyes and the fur on his eyelids was irritating his eyes. After the surgery he looked like a red eyed drunk, but he didn't act like one. Just thought you would enjoy this. Charley

It's important to use the right tool.

In my early life I was trained to be right handed, but then discovered that I could do most things left handed better, so began doing most everything that needed one hand by using my left hand. So I do some things left handed, but can use my right if it's more convenient for the task. I mostly...

    guess who found out...

I had several fingers that snapped over high spots like that. Then discovered that stopping the use of Statin Drugs that I had been taking for high cholesterol completely cured the finger problems and also my leg stiffness problems. At it's worst I had been on Lipitor for almost 2 years and had...

    Be Vewy Vewy Quiet..

My uncle had a big garden and used a large live trap to catch the garden invaders. If they turned out to be one of the neighbor's pets he would let them go, but wildlife all got their mugshots taken with a Polaroid camera and their photo posted on his bulletin board. Then the offender got...

    Questions about electric motors

Brushes are located behind small caps on opposite sides of motors near one end. If no caps, there are no brushes, an easy way to tell. Induction motors will have no caps and are speed dependent on the AC frequency of the power being supplied to it. Always read the motor label before beginning to...

This post is serious, but hilarious at the same time. How does this relate to woodworking? Charley

    epoxy challenge

Yes, very impressive. I have a friend "Charlie Stickney" who does many segmented turnings. He is also a member of the same woodworking club that I belong to "www.ncwoodworker.net". He has posted many of his achievements, including a large segmented donut that completely amazed me when I first...

Another reminder of just how important eye protection is

I NEVER use push sticks on the table saw or router for this reason. I have Grrippers that get used for both, or a DIY pusher made from a piece of 2 X 10 with one edge L notched to do the pushing while the rest holds the work down, and the 2 X 10 is large enough to keep your fingers well above...

I should have listened to my body and quit early.

When the family of one of my uncle's was young (7-10), they were playing on the hard wood oak floor in the hallway of their house. One of them got a splinter and came to my uncle for help. It was sticking out of one cheek and about 3/8" in size and about 1/2" extension. My uncle pulled out the...

Sorry, I'm not a CNC guy, so I'm not thinking of that brush. I can now see why you managed to contour your fingers. John, I'll bet you marked your project with your DNA too. I have always left a little DNA mark on my projects, but it has always been just a small drop or two, not a full paint...
