Rennie, I was thinking about the knock down aspect and wonder if there's value in undercutting the tenons on the braces and the mortises on the underside of the seat.

Almost all of the anti-wracking support comes from the shoulders so anything that optimizes how well they contact the mating surface is probably beneficial here.

If you really wanted to over engineer it you could use a stopped sliding dovetail to pop them into the underside of the seat (that would require sizing all of those parts.. very carefully.. but I think you could use the tusk tennon hole as the entry point possibly...)
