I actually like the side w/o the sapwood on it just cause you can see the form and pattern so nicely... But I can also see why you wanted to keep the sapwood on it, because that is also very pretty

The sapwood cord in fact has a significant band of lighter chocolate wood between it and the core wood to add to its character when viewed in daylight, unfortunately I was unable to capture it in the images.

I had a great deal of difficulty in photographing the piece due to the gloss level despite using diffused lighting.
