Michael Fortune's Video on Mock-Ups

Thanks for sharing, I'll have to make sure I'm signed up. It was an interesting concept and valid points about not trying to think too much about joints and structural elements while in the design process.

To be honest, depending on the design, I'd rather go for a full scale mock-up (or half model ( not scale) if it is simmetryc) in cheap wood than for a scale model. Why? I know since the times that I was at the design school that scale models always look cute and good. If they look awful at that small size just imagine at full size. However, that doesn't mean that I never use them. As I mentioned depending on the design a scale model is faster to make, although one has to think before choosing the scale as the details will have to be scaled down as well, and so making tenons of 2mm thickness is like being a watchmaker with wood.

Good point Toni. Even baby warthogs are cute :D. Things like too-thick legs or a height that isn't quite right are hard to see when scaled down.
