Our temperature was 56°F at 4:30am - at 9am it's 38°F and still dropping. Forecast low tonight is 22 - high Saturday might get above freezing - lows in the 20s until Thursday!!

I know, I know - what's my problem? No problem if it were Minnesota, but we're in southwest Georgia. This will be the coldest blast of winter we've had since moving here in 2006. We've had cold weather here before - even snow a few years ago. At least we have a nice supply of firewood to help us get through.

No, we have a good central HVAC system that takes care of the house nicely. We like to use the fireplace for its ambience and "bun" warming properties.

There is nothing like a real fire in a fireplace or stove. I look forward each morning to getting up early and starting the fire in the stove.

We're having a warming spell here.... my phone just notified me it's up to 11 degrees outside now.

Getting down in the twenties here at night for a few nights in a row. That's the end of the dill and some of the lettuce, but kale, Swiss chard and collards are still hanging in there. Greens are a bit sweeter after the cold. Mighty tasty.
