is it possible to get medical information on a past parent for your own use, my family doctor was asking questions and i mentioned some things and he wanted more info which was never told to me.
 
ted yes he died 5 yrs ago, and no i didnt have medical power of attorney but my mother did, but that is the problem not sure she knew and if she did, she probably wont tell me:(
 
Larry, It wouldn't hurt to check. From what I read, Michigan law permits release of deceased persons records to "authorized representatives" which includes their heirs (spouses and children). If you know where your dad got his health care, give them a call and see what they say. This look like a good place to start.
 
What Ted said. The executor or close surviving relative has a right to those records. But laws vary from state to state. In many cases you might need to present an original copy of the death certificate. Those can be very hard to get if you don't have a copy already.
