but right now it's mostly a huge barn like structure for me to lose stuff in.
We started this journey in April with a 900 sq ft slab, added the building about 3 months later and started process of wiring... long a tedious procedure since I really didn't know what I was doing. after I got all the outlets in and wired, started to think about the overhead lights in a 9+ foot high building, so called an electrician.... don't think there are many in this area and they're busy, but about 3 weeks later they came by and hung my lights, connected my meter base and all the circuit breakers. Then another 3 week wait for the power company to drop a power line to the shop. We had to do a new power line from the street as connecting to the house was out of the question. The line would have had to run over the top of the house, over the storage shed in the back yard and through a couple of trees... so they dug a trench and put it underground. Once the power was attached to the new meter and ready to test, none of the power outlets on one side of the building would work... that naturally is the side where the lathe is set.... called the electrician out to double check every thing again and discovered that that line of outlets also had a GFI plug and the lathe doesn't like GFI's... one it was out, we were in business.
had a build a few tables for some of my and my son's tools (he's storing his in my shop since his house isn't finished and if and when builds his shop, if the HOA allows it, it must match the house) got them built but need Jason's help in setting the tools up on the tables... picked up the planer the other day to put on it's table, got it up to my knees (the bottom of the planer) but couldn't get it waist high to set on the table... 10 years ago would have hoisted it up and in place with little effort, but at 83 I don't seem to be as strong or agile as I was at 73.
Love the new shop, but a 3.13 times the size of my shop over in Tennessee, I have much more space to lose things in.... I should have packed a little more efficiently when I packed for the move. It's a real game now of "Button button, who's got the Button". I probably spend more time looking for the tool I just had and need than I do running the lathe.
Oh well, guess by this time next year will have part of the kinks worked out.
