The worst night of my life

Allen, I know the complete helpless feeling with a traumatic event with a little one. I had a tooth pulled when Fina was little (ended up being the evening she learned to walk) and the dentist broke my top jaw in the process. Sent me home told me he could do nothing and did nothing and no pain pills. Anyway I wake up and thought I heard a funny noise and sent Lou to check on Fina (Lou was pregnant with Tess). The most blood curdling scream from my wife and went to the crib and she had blue lips. I did a little CPR and she started crying so we got dressed and headed to the hospital. Got there and the door was locked to the emergency room (1989) never heard of such thing. Got her in and finally the adrenaline dump left me and I sat holding my head as my jaw was aching. A nurse said something about drunk husbands and dads and boy did Lou tie into her! Anyway, found out Fina would get fever seizures when she got to 103. Who ever, what ever you pray to, in that instance of utter helplessness I prayed. I am sure you did what you do. Glad to hear he is home.

That would be so scary. There were cases of the sudden death thing when my first baby was born. I was so scared. I Slept in 15-minute naps at night. I just had to get up and check on him all the time. He had no problems other than me bugging him all night to make sure he was still breathing. I'm glad your grandson is doing better.

When we rented a house once in upstate ny I came up after work on a Thursday night
I was collecting firewood outside around midnight in the neighbors yard he told me to take as much as I wanted as he no longer used it
I stepped in a nail that went right through my foot out top of sneaker
I had to drive 30 minutes to Ellenville hospital and emergency room was locked shut and dark no lights on
I stood there banging on glass doors till someone let me in
They found a nurse and she paged a doctor
He was so upset she woke him up for that and just said give him a shot and left

My daughter gave him the day off from school today he is a happy boy again

And me and grandma are very happy

I should have read this earlier, but can sympathize with you on the scare.... right after my first wife and I separated, my son was 5 years old and in my custody... he wanted to play with a neighbor kid, so I walked him to their house about 100 yards away, but around a corner in the town house complex... he rang the door bell and I thought I saw the neighbor open the door, so I headed back to my house. When it was time for him to come home, I walked back to the neighbor's house, rang their doorbell and discovered they were not home, Panic set in and I started looking for him, thinking he may have gone to the playground, not there, looked over the entire city block area of the town house complex... no child. I was heading home to call the police and there he sat on the door step .... the feeling of relief I can still feel, some 40+ years later. I can still get that queezy feeling when I think about that.
