Have no idea what is gonna happen today. Still gonna be a hot one. May have a small break in it starting Monday. Yesterday had the eyes mapped out and all that for the cataract surgeries. Dates set for off in October. Best that could be done. Meanwhile, to celebrate nothing in particular, might just go get another dose of tamales this afternoon.

Review the mowing for the week. May put it off till next week.. A little long but it sure is dry and crunchy. LOML doing great after shot in knee. Got so she couldn't walk and was afraid of the shot but finally bit the bullet. Well worth the short discomfort. Guess we are all wearing out a little at a time.
Going to try a new weed killer Epsom salts Dawn soap and vinegar mix. Supposed to be very effective
Everyone have a safe and tive. Daughter tried it and said you could almost see the weeds die. Cheaper than Round Up.
Everyone have a safe and healthy week end and more.

Same rut for us - which isn't always a bad thing, I guess! At least we're still running in it.

Our primary efforts have been staying out of the heat. We'll definitely get out today for our trek to Boston for lunch - they'd send out a search party if we didn't show up! Then, my usual after lunch nap and later watch the next LLWS game.

Saturday I hope to get to my shop for a little effort. It's been too long since I got any progress on a couple of things out there - new medication is still making me a bit unsteady but improving. Will definitely watch some LLWS and NASCAR.

Sunday will start, per normal, with me preparing brunch. After that, it'll be chillin' until time for the LLWS Championship game and NASCAR at Daytona.

Off to the Gloucester Matthews Humane Society this afternoon to pick up the two rescue kitties we picked out last week. I've been resisting because the animals might outlive us, but our daughters said they will take care of them if need be. The missus has had cats all her life and has been missing their company since the last one passed a few years back. Now she will be pet happy again. Happy wife, happy life, right?
Some shop clean up, mowing and a another batch of canning (blackberry jam, pepper jelly and a new recipe for Ajvar using the Ajvarsky peppers I planted this year). Oh, and the gutters still need cleaning.

Chance of rain tonight. Going to see mom tonight. Oliver puked out hydraulic fluid at end of raking, got the last baled, will make cow hay. Good buddy of mine called me this week, he is in the hospital doing the procedures for a mechanical heart. That is a minimum of 4 weeks, he was airlifted from one hospital to another as his heart was only beating 8 bpm. I think he called to say good bye. We will make that a Sunday ritual until he is out of the hospital one way or another. This is my farming buddy, we plowed at his place one year, mine the next for many years. He farmed with a pair of big mules that were nuts. He made them look broke but it was an illusion.

I gotta clean house today, I got company coming from back east for next week. My buddy and his wife and I are going to go down to Tucson for a few days to the Submarine Veterans National Convention. I haven't seen him since we served together on the Nathan Hale over 50 years ago. Tonight I am taking a young lady out for dinner, this is kinda different dating at my age but hey it's like riding a bicycle, somethings you never forget (I hope I don't fall off...lol). Also I still need to do my volunteering working bingo on sunday.

Weather here has cooled down a few notches...our highs have been in the mid-80s. We could use some of the monsoon rain that typically falls this time of year, but so far we've only had one measurable event.

Today I'm just doing some miscellaneous chores and prepping for my shooting club's monthly Range Day tomorrow. Sunday will be recovering from that as well as the typical weekend yardwork (mowing and never-ending shrub and tree trimming). Among other things, we've got a couple of cholla cactuses that need to be trimmed back. That's always an adventure.

I've also got some work to do on my guitars and the various boxes they plug into. One of my guitars was acting up at the last gig, so I need to dig into it a bit more and figure out what's going on. Most likely just a bad solder joint. Worst case scenario I'll just swap out all the electronics on it. My guitar synthesizer was also acting strange at the last show. Not sure if it's a problem with the unit itself or something got changed in my PA mixer. To really debug it I'll need to set up both the synth and the mixer and see if I can reproduce the problem.

And Formula 1 racing is back in action after their summer break, so I'll be recording stuff all weekend and watching it for my evening entertainment as the weekend progresses. :thumb:

It’s a rainy weekend here, with lots of shop time being the plan.
Tomorrow I hope to attend an afternoon seminar on old house restoration, hosted by a heritage carpentry guild. There’s always more to learn and this falls into the goal of doing more of the things I like to do and minimizing the things I have to do.

TV’s on in the shop this morning with Ishitani quietly working his wood magic while I apply a coat of paint to that bookcase face frame.

Have a good one. Be safe.

Nothing going on here of any consequence. Too hot to work in the shop too much but I try to get an hour or three each morning. Been trying to organize all the small tools that I use during handle shaping and smoothing. I bought some carbide Kutzall burrs for shaping with my Foredom. I am quite pleased with the controlled removal that these burrs provide. I still have sanding to do but that is much easier with a relatively smoother starting finish.

Wifey is going away for another weeklong needlepoint symposium This time it is in Boston. I haven't been to Boston in many years so I have no advice for her.

Weather people are predicting the hurricane to come across central N.C. later in the week. I hope they are wrong. If it follows the predicted path we will be on the right side and will receive the northeast quadrant winds which are always the worst even in a downgraded storm. I don't wish hurricanes on anyone anywhere. Under the best of circumstances the winds will make a huge mess, tear off shingles and damage homes. I have seen my share of hurricanes and I would just as soon not see anymore.
